WoW is a focused and dynamic grassroots community group that seeks to raise awareness about the environmental impact of single use plastic. Our aim is to inspire people to rethink and reduce their use of single use plastic, in particular disposable coffee cups, plastic bottles, straws and bags. We work closely with local Councils, MPs, Charities and other community groups. WoW is leading the local community in becoming a 'Plastic Free' Community. WoW is leading the local community in reducing single use plastic.

Plastic Free Community

On 23rd April 2018 we launched our vision to lead Wimborne to Plastic Free Community Status. Well, in just under 5 months, we are in the very privileged position to be able to announce that Wimborne Minster is officially the 32nd community in the UK to achieve Plastic Free Status from Surfers Against Sewage.

We are so very grateful, humbled and overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm shown to us by so many local businesses, community groups, schools, organisations and community spaces helping us to achieve this. This however, is just the beginning, we will continue to encourage and work positively with all local organisations and individuals to educate, raise awareness and assist with the reduction in the use of single use plastic.

If you wish to find out more, become involved, or need ideas and support to reduce single use plastic, then please email us at wimbornewaronwaste@gmail.com. We'd love to hear from you. We also try to keep our Facebook page up to date with events, litter picks, news, and you can follow us here: https://www.facebook.com/WimborneWaronWaste/
